The Benefits of Pink Himalayan Salt

Pink Himalayan Salt has blown up in popularity so that it has become commonly known. In doing some research, I was stunned to learn how it is so much more useful than just as a healthier replacement to white table salt. Read on to learn more.

Himalayan pink salt is one of the finest salts available for culinary, therapeutic and cosmetic uses. This luxurious and delectable salt has beautifully formed crystals which range in color from off-white to a lustrous pink. Himalayan pink salt was originally formed from marine fossil deposits and harvested from ancient sea beds. It has been a valuable commodity for centuries.

Historically, the people of the Himalayas used this salt to preserve their fish and meat throughout the year, and every spring they transported the salt to Nepalese valleys for trade.

It is a hand-mined salt that is derived from ancient sea salt deposits and it is believed to be the purest form of salt available. It is still extracted by hand, according to long-standing tradition, and without the use of any mechanical devices or explosion techniques. After being hand-selected, the salt is then hand-crushed, hand-washed, and dried in the sun. It should be noted that most of the commercial supply on the market today comes from Pakistan.

Regular consumption of Himalayan pink salt provides essential minerals, trace elements, balances electrolytes, and supports proper nutrient absorption.

It is used by chefs, spas, health professionals, and individuals for its range of nutritional and therapeutic properties. Himalayan pink salt can be used in bath salt recipes, body scrubs, aromatherapy, homemade soap, and all types of culinary and spa applications. It is recommended to be stored in an air tight, covered container in a cool, dry place.

Intended Use: Food and cosmetic

Personally, I have switched from using white table salt to Pink Himalayan for all of my culinary dishes. Only recently have a branched out and began using it cosmetically in my bath salt and exfoliating scrub recipes. My favorite - so far - is mixing it with Rose petals, rose powder, and rose essential oil, along with other bath salts, for a luxurious and therapeutic foot soak. The aroma is heavenly!
