The Benefits of French Grey Sea Salt

French grey sea salt is not one that I have run across before and was excited to try upon learning more about its health benefits. Not only does it just sound luxurious, but it is wonderful for the skin. Here’s a quick overview.

French grey sea salt obviously comes from France and is solar evaporated from the Guérande Marshes of Western France. The gentle grey coloring is a result of the salt crystals coming into contact with clay and minerals in the salt beds. Using traditional harvesting techniques, the salt grains are collected with special wooden rakes before they are stone ground.

Uses:

  • Cooking: The slightly coarse grains are perfect for finishing both sweet and savory dishes or provide easy grinding into a finer powder.

    • Add as a finishing sprinkle on crackers, baked goods, and chocolate

    • Use in place of any salt for cooking and grilling.

    • This salt has a slightly higher moisture content than most salts

    • Adds new dimensions of gourmet cooking to your culinary creations

  • Cosmetic: It is a perfect salt for bathing or exfoliation.

    • May be used as a single bath salt or combined with other salts such as:

      • Epsom

      • Sea salts

      • Himalayan salt

      • Create a personalized blend

    • Salt baths are recommended to help ease:

      • Skin irritations

      • Stimulate circulation

      • Provide comfort to occasionally sore or stiff muscles

    • It can also be used in a foot bath for targeted soaking after a long day.

    • Use this salt in exfoliating scrubs with honey, essential oils, or your favorite carrier oil.

Intended Use: Food and cosmetic

I have loved my experience using French Grey sea salt so much that I incorporated it into my own bath salt recipes, particular in the RELAX blend. If you want to experience it for yourself, check it out in the Shop.

Until next time,

~ Crystal
